On Monday, Juergen Boos, the Director of the Book Fair, logged on to Twitter to chat with Publishing Perspectives and answer questions from others who chimed in about next week’s Book Fair.  Here are some highlights from the chat:What the week before the Book Fair is like for him:
“I already stopped sleeping. /jb”

How he gets through the week of the Book Fair:
“Regular Coke with ice in the morning. Cigarettes by night. /jb”

Finland is the Guest of Honour country this year. About the Finnish GoH Pavilion:
“For the first time design students have created the GoH-Appearence. It’s gonna be pretty COOL. /jb”

When asked the greatest challenges to publishers:
“People not reading. /jb”

Self-publishing is a big focus at the Book Fair this year. When asked the significance of self-publishing in global publishing:
“It is a perfect tool to identify trends in storytelling. /jb”

How the Book Fair has changed in the last 10 years and how it will change in the next 10:
“Past: Self-publishing and Fan Fiction. Future: Global content vs Niche / Local content. /jb”

When asked what he does when the Book Fair is over:
“Mow the lawn.”
